About the Show

A modern London-set reimagining of Rossini’s opera with Deepa Johnny and Aaron Godfrey-Mayes.

Set in contemporary London, Cinderella (La Cenerentola) follows the story of Angelina, a young woman trapped in a life of servitude to her selfish stepsisters and scheming stepfather. Despite her hardships, she dreams of finding love and escaping her circumstances. When she meets the charming Prince Don Ramiro, disguised as a commoner, a series of events unfolds that brings about an unexpected and magical resolution to her quest for happiness.

The creative team features conductor Yi-Chen Lin, known for her effervescent pacing, and director Julia Burbach, a nominee for the International Opera Awards, renowned for her inventive staging.

The English National Opera presents this new production, blending classic storytelling with Rossini’s effervescent score, including arias and ensembles that mirror the playful, comic style of The Barber of Seville.
