A fractured family reunites after 17 years, but old wounds and new tensions threaten their fragile peace.

After 17 years apart, the Pennington family gathers for William’s 75th birthday, hoping to mend past mistakes. His children—an estranged daughter, an autistic son, and a son who never met expectations—have long struggled under his ambitions. As old resentments resurface and new challenges arise, their attempt at reconciliation teeters on the edge of collapse. With time running out, William must face the reality of accepting his family as they are, even if they can’t fully forgive his own failings. Set over Easter weekend in 1997, The Gathered Leaves is a poignant and humorous exploration of family, legacy, and acceptance.
