Two friends, one wild night in Luton—class, chaos, and real-time storytelling collide.
Set over a single, chaotic night in Luton, The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return follows two best friends at a house party teetering between nostalgia and violence. With noughties tracks and cheap gin flowing, the play explores youth's highs and austerity's shadows through real-time storytelling.
Written and co-directed by Sam Edmunds (Blanket Ban), the production is also directed by Vikesh Godhwani. Presented by Chalk Line Theatre, known for politically driven work, the show premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe to sold-out houses and won the 2024 Fest & Skinny Magazine Award for Best New Writing.
Post-show events include a Q&A on political playwriting, a fundraiser for the Ben Kinsella Trust, and cast discussions on class and creativity. The Royal Victoria Hall Foundation, Unity Theatre Trust, Peggy Ramsay Foundation, and Arts Council England support the production.
