In this modern reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two young lovers caught in the crossfire of a violent feud between the Montagues and Capulets. As tension escalates and loyalty collides with love, the pair’s pursuit of peace and freedom leads to devastating consequences in a world defined by rivalry and revenge.

This revival marks the 20th year of Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank and features the return of the Globe’s acclaimed 2024 production. Directed by Lucy Cuthbertson, the Globe’s Director of Education (Macbeth, Rough Magic), and edited by Associate Director Robin Belfield, the staging combines Shakespeare’s language with a contemporary edge.

The production integrates creative captions into the set design for every performance, bringing accessibility and innovation to this fresh and youthful retelling of one of theatre’s most enduring stories.
