A sharp Broadway satire about opening-night chaos, directed by Susanna Frazer.
Set on the chaotic opening night of a Broadway show, It’s Only a Play follows playwright Peter Austin and a motley group of theater insiders as they anxiously await the first reviews. Gathered in a Manhattan townhouse, the producer, director, and actors trade gossip, panic over critics, and wrestle with their own fragile egos. Terrence McNally’s comedy offers a backstage look at the insecurities and absurdities of show business.
This Morningside Theater Co. production is directed by Susanna Frazer. The creative team includes Noel Brooks (set design), Aidan McLeod (lighting), Swordfish (sound design), and Cecelia Riddett (costumes).
