An immersive puppetry work exploring walking through history, politics, and ritual.
Designed and directed by Theodora Skipitares, this immersive multimedia puppetry performance unfolds across four locations within the Ellen Stewart Theater. Guided by a booklet of instructions and interactive texts, audience members move through the building as part of the performance structure. The work examines walking as a physical, political, and spiritual act, drawing on its scientific, historical, and poetic dimensions. Along the journey, participants encounter labyrinths, mazes, and representations of notable figures associated with walking, including Aristotle, religious pilgrims, Henry David Thoreau, Virginia Woolf, and Mahatma Gandhi.
