A haunting new play about Mary Shelley, love, death, queerness, and the art of creation.
Presented by the Greek Cultural Center and produced by The Garret Theatre, Dead Things is a world-premiere play written by Haley Schwartz and directed by Jack Dryden that reimagines the life of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley. Blending fact and fiction, the work traces Shelley’s search for passion, meaning, and creative freedom within the constraints of 19th-century womanhood.
Starring Khali Sykes and Hannah Adrian, the production unfolds through a lens of gothic intimacy, examining themes of love, death, queerness, and artistic possession, and illuminating the forces that shaped both Shelley’s life and her writing.
At its heart, Dead Things poses a haunting question: how do we continue to love in a world where death is always near?
