A solo work blending story, shadow, and puppetry to depict survival during Beirut’s 1982 invasion.
Crossing the Water is a moving solo performance that weaves together live storytelling, shadow play, projections, and puppetry to depict life under military occupation. Blending personal memories with historical events, it traces the journey of a small family and their comrades as they escape the Israeli invasion of Beirut in 1982. Both intimate and political, the piece reflects on survival, resistance, and the enduring weight of memory. Serving as the second installment in a trilogy, it continues an exploration of the decline of the Lebanese left at the close of the twentieth century.
