Dan Butler and Sarah Street star in this Conor McPherson drama set in a rural Irish pub.

In a remote country pub in Ireland, a group of local men gather for an evening of drinks and casual storytelling. The arrival of a newcomer, Valerie, shifts the dynamic, as each man shares a ghostly tale in an effort to impress or unsettle. The night takes a darker turn when Valerie offers her own deeply personal and haunting story, reframing the evening’s banter into something more profound and unsettling.

The production features Dan Butler (TV’s Frasier) as Jack and Sarah Street (A Girl is a Half-formed Thing) as Valerie. The cast also includes Johnny Hopkins, John Keating, and Sean Gormley, all frequent collaborators with Irish Repertory Theatre. The production is directed by Ciarán O’Reilly, Irish Rep’s co-founder and longtime director, whose credits include The Dead, 1904 and Philadelphia, Here I Come!

Written by Conor McPherson, The Weir premiered in 1997 and won the Olivier Award for Best New Play.
