Set in the Deep South, The Brothers Size follows the story of Ogun and Oshoosi, two brothers trying to rebuild their relationship after time apart. Ogun, grounded and hardworking, has welcomed Oshoosi back into his life following his younger brother’s release from prison. But when Elegba, Oshoosi’s charismatic former cellmate, reappears, the pull of the past threatens the fragile trust between the brothers. As tensions rise, they must confront questions of loyalty, identity, and personal freedom.
The play is written by Tarell Alvin McCraney, who won an Academy Award for Moonlight. McCraney also co-directs this 20th anniversary production alongside Bijan Sheibani (Barber Shop Chronicles at BAM). The cast features André Holland (Moonlight, Exhibiting Forgiveness) as Ogun, Alani iLongwe (Paradise Blue, Arthur the King) as Oshoosi, and Malcom Mays (Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Snowfall) as Elegba.
Presented in the round, the production incorporates elements of Yoruba mythology and storytelling, reflecting the cultural roots that inform the characters’ lives and choices.
