Through a blend of personal storytelling and music, this musical experience explores the barriers created by stereotypes and labels. A cast of young performers shares real-life experiences of resilience, identity, and self-expression, combining narrative moments with contemporary songs and original music. The production unfolds as both a theatrical piece and a concert-style performance, drawing on themes of belonging, connection, and overcoming obstacles.
The work is written and directed by Drew Lachey, known as a member of the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated group 98 Degrees, and Lea Lachey, who also serves as choreographer. The score includes original material by Lea and Drew Lachey alongside songs by various artists, while visual design incorporates projections created by Brave Berlin.
Featuring a company of emerging performers, the production combines rock, pop, and R&B influences with autobiographical narratives. Through ensemble numbers, solo performances, and spoken storytelling, the musical examines how individuals navigate assumptions placed upon them and seek to define themselves on their own terms.
