About the Show

Heartfelt musical comedy about love, family, and drag, directed by Robert O’Hara.

Set on the glittering French Riviera, this Tony Award–winning musical follows Georges and Albin, longtime partners who run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez. Their world is turned upside down when their son, Jean-Michel, announces his engagement to the daughter of conservative parents and invites them to dinner.

This Encores! presentation revives the original 1983 orchestrations by Jerry Herman, heard live for the first time since the show’s Broadway debut. The creative team includes book writer Harvey Fierstein and composer-lyricist Jerry Herman, both Lifetime Achievement Tony Award recipients.

Produced by New York City Center Encores!, the limited-run staging continues the company’s mission to celebrate and reexamine classic works of American musical theatre with top-tier creative talent and the full Encores! Orchestra.
