A quirky retelling of a celebrity trial blending chaos, comedy, and original music.
Linus Karp and Joseph Martin’s Gwyneth Goes Skiing reconstructs the absurd 2016 ski collision in Deer Valley, Utah, between Gwyneth Paltrow and retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, and the 2023 court case that followed. Their playful documentary‑style staging dramatizes the lawsuit—Sanderson’s multi‑million‑dollar suit, Paltrow’s symbolic $1 counterclaim, and the jury’s verdict that went viral.
Karp and Martin not only wrote the piece but also perform as Gwyneth Paltrow and Terry Sanderson. The production includes original music by Leland (known for work on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Cher’s Christmas album, Troye Sivan’s Something To Give Each Other), with vocals by Darren Criss and Cat Cohen, and a video cameo by drag icon Trixie Mattel as Blythe Danner.
Premiering off-Broadway at SoHo Playhouse from October 8 to November 16, 2025, Gwyneth Goes Skiing follows sold‑out runs in London, at the Edinburgh Fringe, and performances in Park City—site of the real trial. Presented by Awkward Productions, the 90‑minute show blends musical parody, audience participation (with juror votes), and campy satire.
